Summer began with the obvious excitement of Festival de Cannes, attended by Bleat’s Tristin Norwell and Dave Turner in support of three brilliant films. In the Un Certain Regard section were Harry Lighton’s ‘Pillion’ and Harris Dickinson’s ‘Urchin’ which one Best Screen Play and Best Actor respectively. Bleat completed full sound post-production on both films. In the Official Competition, the inclusion of Lynne Ramsay’s ‘Die My Love’ brought the number of female directors in the category to its highest to date, with the film itself producing an impressive 9-minute standing ovation. The theatrical Dolby Atmos mix was completed at Bleat with a dedicated sound team led by Paul Davies.
In the lead up to Tribeca, Bleat welcomed the team behind the Mercury documentary, ‘Metallica Saved My Life,’ which consisted of Junas Akerlund (dir), Rune Klausen (mixer), and the band’s producer Greg Fidelman, ahead of its world premiere at the festival. And finally, Sheffield DocFest brought June to an end, where Bau Nguyen’s documentary ‘The Stringer’ (mixed at Bleat) had its UK premiere.
