My favourite film from the London Film Festival was Die My Love directed by Lynne Ramsay and starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson as new parents Grace and Jackson who have recently relocated to the isolated countryside.
Die My Love follows Grace as she struggles with post-partum depression. Lynne Ramsay is one of the boldest and most exciting filmmakers out there and she doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects. Die My Love is dark, intense, but also really funny throughout, helped by Lawrence’s natural comic timing and chemistry with Pattinson. There’s also a brilliant contrast between the childlike, playful soundtrack and the really heavy moments on screen, which make it even more haunting.
I loved this film so much as it’s so committed and confident in what it’s doing. It wasn’t my most relaxing watch at LFF but definitely the one that has stuck with me the most since.
