We are proud to announce that Halo’s sound team have won TWO prestigious awards for their work on Nutopia’s ‘Welcome To Earth - The Silent Roar’ (National Geographic & Disney+) - The Jackson Wild Award for Sound and The Wildscreen Panda Award for Sound. Mixed by Halo’s Sam Castleton and with sound editorial by Jay Price and Tom Foster.
The Jackson Wild Awards are the natural history equivalent of the Oscars, and celebrate excellence and innovation in science and nature storytelling. A few weeks later, the same team attended the The Wildscreen Panda Awards and were thrilled to once again win in the same category.
The Wildscreen Panda Awards celebrate the best in natural world storytelling. Series Director Graham Booth said “the dubbing team of Sam, Jay and Tom did a magnificent job at creating rich and deep soundscapes that transformed the pictures into something more profound.”
Dubbing Mixer Sam Castleton commented “I’m delighted to win these awards for alongside my colleagues. A lot of time and love went into this project, the whole team at halo and Nutopia truly went ‘to the ends of the earth’! Sound played a vital role in bringing the hidden worlds to life, so I’m chuffed that our work was recognised and held in such high regard.”
Halo Supervising Sound Editor Jay Price added “the aspiration for the Welcome To Earth series was to open up the audience's senses to the hidden wonders of the planet and in our case that meant opening their ears to things they had never heard or experienced before. It was a real team effort both on location and in post to bring the hidden sonic worlds to life and the whole series was an absolute joy to work on. It is really special for us to have our work recognised by such a coveted award for natural world storytelling.”
