Blazing Griffin has acquired boutique post-production studio Brick + Mortar

Bringing together two powerhouse creative teams and establishing Scotland’s first dedicated DCI-grade theatre for feature film finishing.

Glasgow, [Tuesday 11th November 2025]  TODAY, award-winning production studio Blazing Griffin has announced the acquisition of Brick + Mortar, the Glasgow-based post-production facility known for its high-end editorial, grading, and VFX work across long and short form projects.

Founded in 2024, Brick + Mortar quickly built a reputation for delivering exceptional, artist-led post experiences. Led by Senior Colourist Tom Cairns and Creative Director & Editor Jack Lang, the studio has been working on a growing slate of international feature films and commercial projects, earning recognition for their filmmaker-first approach. The company was originally established by Tom and Jack in partnership with Simon Mallinson, who also founded MTP and Randan.

The move marks a key milestone for Scotland’s post-production industry, uniting two innovative creative teams under one banner and furthering Glasgow as a centre for world-class film and television finishing.

Blazing Griffin has been steadily evolving its feature film production capabilities in recent years. The company has successfully delivered three titles in 2025, including California Schemin’ (James McAvoy’s directorial debut), Glenrothan (Brian Cox’s directorial debut), and the family film Grow (Directed by John McPhail). These projects reflect the studio’s commitment to high-quality, narrative-driven content, and underscore the need for strong post-production infrastructure to support its growing slate of ambitious projects.

As part of the acquisition, Blazing Griffin is expanding its post-production footprint with the construction of a new flagship theatrical-grade suite at its Glasgow facility, bringing a full, cinema-standard pipeline under one roof. The suite will be built using the high-end grading and finishing kit acquired from Brick + Mortar,  including 4k Christie CP4420-Xe cinema projector, large cinema-grade screen, and Baselight Grading System. This will be the first and only dedicated DCI grade theatre in Scotland, delivering to the highest international standards. Integrating this kit into Blazing Griffin’s wider infrastructure consolidates the strengths of both studios and significantly enhances creative and technical capability in Scotland.

Brick + Mortar will continue operating under its own name from its current base at Trinity Towers, MTP, with all existing projects and client relationships continuing as usual. Once the new suite is completed at Blazing Griffin, the Brick + Mortar team will be able to work across both sites to best suit client and project needs.

By combining Brick + Mortar’s boutique artistry with Blazing Griffin’s technical depth and production scale, the new alliance ensures that both existing and future clients benefit from a richer, more connected creative offering, right here in Glasgow.

Scotland is increasingly well-positioned to handle larger-scale post-production and VFX projects, supported by initiatives like the Screen Scotland Project Post Fund. With a 20% rebate on qualifying Scottish spend and up to £100K in grant funding available per project, UK productions can access skilled local vendors, reduce costs, and benefit from a growing regional infrastructure.
