TRAINEE FINDER
Up to £12k per production. We open for applications in November each year and look for trainees across the UK across 9 depts who have less than a year’s paid experience in HETV . Applicants apply online. This year we had 1452 applicants for 112 places finally accepted onto Trainee Finder 1st April 2020 – 31st March 2022
All applications are read by 3 people – 2 of which are HODs or senior crew in the dept we are selecting for ,who give a score out of 5 and then we add up these scores to help advise on who we take to interview. HODS in London interview with us. For those living in the nations and regions they are interviewed by Line producers or producers who actively work with us in supporting trainees. We offer all trainees local interviews in the regions/nations Glasgow or Edinburgh / Belfast / Bristol / Cardiff / Leeds and Manchester
Successful applicants usually attend a 3 day intensive induction, this year our induction was delivered online covering :
- Finance for freelancers
- Wellbeing & Mental health – all trainees are also offered 1-2-1 counselling sessions
- Production essentials
- CV advice and a session on Maximising their profiles on across digital platforms
- Safe Management of production safety- First Option
- Drop in sessions per dept
- Drop in sessions with trainees also based in their region
- Drop in to meet alumni in their dept
All trainees are also offered the support of a Mentor
We fund £300 per week per trainee towards the trainees salary, to a maximum of 40 weeks of trainee time per production, so a funding total of (up to) £12,000 per production from Trainee Finder.
We have trainees based all over the UK across 9 depts – Art /Costume / Sound / Camera / Floor Runner / Production Runner / Make up / Edit / Locations.
Once you let us have dates and the departments you need, we will send you over the CVs of our trainees and the HODS select who they wish to support
Once you have selected your trainees, we will issue a training agreement between ourselves and the production company. The production company would then contract and pay the trainee directly. Please note, the trainees are salaried, subject to PAYE and NI and work the crew hours like other crew members.
For more details see: Trainee Finder
We also keep in touch with all our former trainees via Facebook groups so they could be used as part of your crewing strategy for the production at more junior grades . We are also producing new alumni booklets similar to: Alumni Booklet – New Entrant
