After a sell out festival run at IDFA and CPH:Dox, MERKEL is now available on Netflix. OnSight provided full picture post, overseen by Senior Post Producer Jeff Halsey, with Colourist Andy Lee, and Andrew Fisun providing the online edit.
Merkel is the latest feature documentary from Passion Pictures, telling the astonishing story of how a triple political outsider – a woman, a scientist, and an East German – became one of the most successful politicians in the world.
Merkel had its World Premiere at Telluride Film Festival in September and wowed audiences with sell out screenings at IDFA and CPH: Dox. It has now been released on Netflix.
We are pleased to have delivered picture post for Merkel, overseen by Senior Post Producer Jeff Halsey. Our Colourist Andy Lee graded the film with Andrew Fisun providing the Online Edit.
Andrew worked closely with the director Eva Weber on conforming/replacing the archive footage throughout numerous recuts, and credits/titles creation.
The project was complex, due to a multitude of archive sources, and an incredibly fast turnaround for festival deadlines. A great achievement thanks to the hard work and dedication from the entire team.
From Director Eva Weber and Academy Award and BAFTA-winning Producers of “Searching for Sugar Man” and “Listen to Me Marlon”, Merkel uses archival material and revealing interviews with Merkel’s friends and colleagues to create a rich portrait, from her upbringing behind the iron curtain in the former DDR (East Germany), studies in quantum chemistry, her surprising start in politics and fast ascent.
Merkel was produced by Lizzie Gillett, Sonja Henrici, Sigrid Dyekjær and Eva Weber, with Sam Payne as Line Producer. Dawn Porter Executive Produces, with Clare Lucas and Juile Zann as Co-Producers. Merkel is produced in association with Odd Girl Out Productions, Screen Scots, LOOKsfilm, Real Lava, Curzon and others, with backing from the Curzon CM Development Fund and the BFI’s Global Screen Fund.
