This process includes capturing and converting the raw material, adding color correction, and exporting the files to be used by the picture finishing facility & the editorial cutting room.

Capturing the footage typically requires an in-depth knowledge of digital capture and compression technologies, as well as an understanding of file formats and storage systems. Color correction is then applied to the footage to adjust the overall look of the video. This can include exposure compensation, white balance, contrast, and saturation adjustments but is applied through the use of a LUT (Look Up Table). Finally, the footage is transcoded & exported for use by the editing software – Premiere Pro, Avid, and others. The exported files can then be shared and distributed to production teams, producers, post-production houses, and other departments.
