Black Photon has prepared an exceptional LED premiere of the new version of the iconic children’s movie

Kleks Academy is a 1984 legendary fantasy film and a symbol of childhood for several generations of Poles. Initial theatrical release was seen by 14 mln people.
Feb 1
The movie is based on the 1946 children’s novel of the same name by Jan Brzechwa. The book itself is familiar to practically all residents of our country – it is an obligatory position on the school reading list in elementary school.

When the news regarding Kleks Academy’s big new version comeback hit the media, everybody was really excited. The media regularly covered more reports from the film’s set. More songs from the new soundtrack (the original OST from 1984 was as much iconic as the movie itself) also was hitting the web one by one. Both parents and children were waiting impatiently for a movie premiere.

Black Photon was – of course – part of the new Kleks Academy project. Our team was working on a post production far before the principal photography through set data wrangling, VFX as well as on colour grading. We were very excited by the fact that we could not only return to the time of magical childhood, but also create an extraordinary, full of unique colours, imagination and fantasy world of Mr Kleks.

The grand premiere of the film took place in the beginning of January but Black Photon team was engaged in preparing special preview events. The events were unique, especially from the technological side. Why is that?

👉 Kleks Academy was the first movie premiere in Poland to be screened on an LED wall (until now, LED walls have not been used for film projection)

👉It was preceded by several weeks of preparation, tests and measurements of different types of LEDs

👉We measured the quality of the projection with our tools – a colorimeter and spectroradiometer

👉Our CEO, Kamil Rutkowski, created a proprietary 3D LUT (and even more than a dozen variants of it) especially for the release of Kleks, which allowed us to achieve cinematic image quality on LED wall….

👉…and at the premiere itself, he precisely calibrated the LED wall to maximise quality and make sure the colours were as intended.

In the end, the result was worth all the work contributed to this project.
